IDV Coronavirus (COVID-19) Stage 4 restrictions

Dear Service Users, families and carers

I wanted to take the opportunity to contact you all with the recent announcement of the Victorian Government to introduce stage 4 restrictions with COVID-19 cases increasing recently.

The IDV management team have a Business Continuity Plan in place and have been collectively working on a phased approach to return service delivery working within current guidelines.

Macleod ATSS

In light of further restrictions IDV has reviewed its current operations for the Macleod ATSS service. The health and wellbeing of our participants, staff, families and carers has and always will remain IDV’s top priority.

Considering the new restrictions, the way these programs currently operate, and in order to minimize any possible risk of spreading infection during this time, IDV has taken the decision to close the Macleod ATSS service up to and including Sunday the 27th of September.

During this closure our ATSS staff will be working remotely in the background and only limited staff available on site. If you need to speak to any team members, they are available via email, online meetings or continue to call the head office and a team member will get back to you.

The status of the temporary closure will be kept under constant review, and we will be informed by all Government advice and guidelines issued.

Aurora Supported Employment

For supported employees we have a small group that has returned to work and as production requests increase IDV will commence returning supported employees back to work in a phased approach and following the Governments advice and guidelines.

Success will depend on maintaining our new community norms as the health and wellbeing of our participants, staff, families and carers has and always will remain IDV’s top priority.

  • All staff and participants use infrared thermometer on arrival (Normal range for temperature must be below 37.3)
  • All staff and participants use hand sanitiser on arrival
  • Wearing a mask is now mandatory for all staff
  • Wearing goggles or a face shield is recommended – IDV are currently ordering these to have available at Aurora
  • Hand sanitiser is provided and used throughout the day
  • The factory floor has been measured, ensuring the 1.5 meters social distancing and 4 square meters per person.
  • Lunchrooms are split into two designated areas to ensure social distancing is upheld and lunch times are alternated
  • Cleaning schedule for all high touch areas is completed every two hours and each evening

Step by Step

For Participants accessing the Step by Step program all services will cease being delivered on site and we will move to online zoom program from Wednesday the 12th of August 2020.

Please note from Monday the 10th of August 2020 our Greensborough site will be closed and our Step by Step team will be delivering the Zoom program remotely or on site at our head office in Macleod.

If you are interested in participating in the online program, please contact Lisa Mills Manager or Rhiannon Chapman for additional information and program schedules. Our team can be contacted via email for any requests.

  • Shopping can occur for necessary goods and services

Your current Support Service requests will be modified to align with the current government restrictions. Tracy Hart will be in contact to confirm arrangements and any modifications.

When restrictions are eased, we can return your previous supports and activities in line with government guidelines. Success will depend on maintaining our new community norms as the health and wellbeing of our participants, staff, families and carers has and always will remain IDV’s top priority.

Residential Services

How does this affect Supported Independent Living services and Visitors?

The government has introduced new restrictions which limit visits to only essential care service providers and visitors providing care and support to a resident will be permitted. We are supporting participants to understand and follow the Governments directions to stay at home, practice good hygiene and social distancing.

Can you take your family member home?

IDV is following the Current Victorian Government restrictions which state.

  • You can no longer visit friends and family who live at another household, except to see your intimate partner, or for a caregiving or compassionate reason, or providing or receiving care

IDV will continue to do everything we can to help you remain connected to your family member. We are supporting our participants to use the telephone, video calls and other digital tools to connect.

Can I visit my family member?

  • For a parent, guardian, carer, partner or support person of a resident can visit a resident of a SIL house to provide emotional and social support that cannot be delivered via electronic means
  • Our participants may only have one nominated visitor that can visit once per day for a maximum of one hour
  • All visitors will be required to wear a mask and maintain the 1.5-meter social distancing
  • If you have returned from overseas or been in contact with someone confirmed to have COVID-19 in the last 14 days will not be able to visit
  • Visitors who have a fever or symptoms of respiratory illness will not be able to visit
  • We recommend you have your influenza vaccination in order to visit a service
  • Visits should be short, and conducted in the participants room, outside or in a specific designated area where social distancing can be maintained
  • Visits by children 16 years and under are currently not allowed except in special circumstances
  • All visitors will be encouraged to practice social distancing, including staying away when unwell
  • In cases where the participant is medically vulnerable, visit will be permissible only if necessary
  • All visitors will need to wash or sanitize their hands-on entry and exit of the house and before entering or leaving a participant's room
  • Visitors must contact Cheryl Wilson Residential Services Manager to arrange a visit 0412 436 704 or cwilson@idv.com.au

The Management team have an action plan ready to manage the situation if a participant tests positive for COVID-19. Families and participants will be notified if another resident in the home tests positive and will be informed of actions taken to protect all residents in the home.

Please note:

Our head office is currently closed and our staff will be working remotely in the background and only limited staff available on site. If you need to speak to any team members, they are available via email, online meetings or continue to call the head office and a team member will get back to you.

During these uncertain times we are all facing, it can affect individuals in different ways. It is understandable at this time that some people may be feeling anxious, scared, worried, or overwhelmed. It is important during these times that we take note of our own well-being and mental health.

We understand this has been a challenging time for our community and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience that this closure may cause.

If you have any questions or concerns, please speak with the IDV Program Manager at any time and we will keep you updated.

Kind Regard
